CAZAS
WONEN

Just like many others, I have a burning desire to live on my own. Unfortunately, due to the housing situation in the Netherlands, finding a place to live is as hard as finding a needle in a haystack. It seems like a lot of young people are packing their bags and moving to other countries because of this. Or they end up settling for living situations that are less than ideal, like tiny studios that are impossible to share or places where having children is a big no-no.

But then I heard about Caza Living starting a housing project and boy, was I intrigued! They called out to artists like me to create artwork for their construction banners. How cool is that? Finally, an opportunity to put my artistic skills to good use and maybe even make my mark on these buildings!

In our pursuit of artistic expression, we, like many others, aspire to immerse ourselves in this extraordinary realm. This artwork symbolizes the desire of art to share its vibrant offerings and playfully lend a helping hand. It aims to infuse some much-needed color into his monochromatic world.

In this work, you can observe a student in three different scenarios. The reason for portraying these scenes in bubbles is because, for many, finding a student accommodation or a place to live afterwards feels like a dream enclosed in a soap bubble. In the first scene, you see the student walking into a city that appears new and vast to her. The second scene depicts her sitting in a room with her parents, searching the internet for hope of finding a student accommodation. In the final scene, the bubble bursts and our student finally has her own place to blossom into the artist she is.
